3187 Point White Drive
Bainbridge Island, WA 98110 206.855.8488
The home was designed to maximize views of the Puget Sound's Rich Passage
from all rooms and to minimize lot coverage. The home is modern yet has a
feeling of timelessness.
Articles praising the home have been published in several publications including Home Magazine; the Seattle Times, Retaining a Sense of Place - Case Study and various books on architectural design.
The ground level provides an entry experience passing by a large lily/koi pond stocked with a variety of fish. A separate private entry to a bedroom with its own private bath is at ground level as well as a large covered area for entertainment and kid's play. This private bedroom has beautiful hardwood floors, 180° views of the gardens and the koi pond and opens to the covered tile veranda. This level also connects to a 450 square foot container landscaped deck over the garage.
The second level is the main level with an open living, dining and kitchen plan that is visually and functionally connected but separated by architectural elements. The beautiful galley kitchen has marble counter tops, stainless steel appliances and a large central island and is dominated by a 10-foot leaded glass window overlooking the lily/koi pond. A large oval deck overlooking Rich Passage and accessed through oversized French doors in the dining area visually joins the home with the outdoors. The vaulted wood ceiling above the living room on the main level extends two stories in height. An enameled Danish wood stove is centrally located between the dining room and the living room. The main floor also has a private guest bathroom, a large covered back porch for wood storage and recycling and a beautiful large utility room with corner glass windows.
On the third level are the master bedroom and a full bath with double sinks and separate tub and shower. The master bedroom has wood framed windows and French doors that open to a large glass sunroom and small deck -- all with views to the sound and the passing ferries. The master bedroom also has a private balcony that overlooks the main level and a skylight window that can be opened.
The fourth level is the third bedroom with a Pullman type bath and beautiful wood windows on three sides. The light-filled room could also be used as an art or sewing studio.
The fifth floor space, surrounded with windows and open ceiling beams is wired for DSL and is currently the owners' at-home office/studio.
A spacious carpeted stair tower connects all floors making the circulation
comfortable and fun.
