3187 Point White Drive
Bainbridge Island, WA 98110 206.855.8488
The home is part of a planned community created by the architect in 1976.
The 8 acre community is made up of seven home sites planned for privacy and
all connected by private trails to the common areas. Each home is contained
within a 100 foot circle building envelope with the surrounding wooded natural
old growth landscape held in perpetuity as common area.
A one acre central commons area provides a large glass roofed, timber framed, open pavilion with a river rock fireplace, cooking facilities and areas for basketball, parties, and general recreation all year round. Surrounding the pavilion are gardens and a family sauna. Over the years many weddings, family celebrations and seasonal parties held here have enriched the sense of community. Vehicle access to the other six homes is by a separate private drive.
The Planned Community (named - I Wonder If Herbie's Home Yet) has been published in a many books and articles for its unique approach to neighborhood design.
Note: On the community map (far right), our home is plot number 1, closest to Rich Passage.
